(SAN ANTONIO, Texas: September 27, 2007) Paradigm™ (www.pdgm.com), a leading provider of enterprise software solutions to the global oil and natural gas exploration and production industry, announced Tuesday the development of SKUA Geologic Driven Modeling. This new solution, which was demonstrated before several overflow audiences in the Paradigm booth at the SEG 2007 annual conference, is the first component of Paradigm’s new SKUA Suite of next-generation, integrated subsurface modeling solutions.
“SKUA Geologic Driven Modeling greatly simplifies workflow processes and reduces modeling time from weeks to days through a completely new approach to subsurface modeling,” said Jean-Claude Dulac, Paradigm’s chief architect. “We are pleased to introduce SKUA Geologic Driven Modeling as the first of many applications which make up Paradigm’s SKUA Suite of subsurface imaging, interpretation and modeling solutions.
SKUA Geologic Driven Modeling simplifies workflow by eliminating many repetitive tasks and lifting complexity limitations of current industry technologies, such as the time-consuming construction of multi-faulted models and the severe limitations of traditional pillar and extrusion technology. Breakthrough capabilities shown at SEG 2007 include:
- Implicit modeling eliminates tedious and error-prone manual steps, accelerating the time to begin geologic interpretation.
- Fully 3D, the new approach enables fast re-modeling when additional field and production data is captured. Error typical of 2½D systems is also eliminated.
- Adaptive output easily handles the unique modeling needs of both reservoir property modeling and flow simulation.
- Geologic driven modeling employs paleo-chronologic software-based intelligence resulting in accurate output in less time – true to depositional and structural geology.
Paradigm’s SKUA (an acronym for Subsurface Knowledge Unified Approach) is a technology platform setting the stage for a suite of products that will benefit geophysicists, geologists, petrophysicists and engineers through a simple, one-click approach to 3D modeling. This results in fully 3D structural, stratigraphic and reservoir models with multi-resolution capabilities that remove distortion commonly introduced by current 2½D modeling technologies.
