The Epos® infrastructure includes powerful management tools that allow system administrators to tailor data access and usage to the evolving needs of their organization.
The data repositories are organized in such a way as to provide the IT Administrator with full control and flexibility regarding the location and arrangement of the repositories. This type of organization also enables the database to be easily scaled to changing performance and storage needs as datasets continue to grow.
Epos offers a rich set of security and access control tools to manage access to specific sets of data. It also enables project administrators to set the levels of permission granted to groups of employees or other personnel on site. It is even possible to grant permissions according to different roles, such as for data loading, interpretation, approval, etc.
Advanced backup and restore capabilities are available for all data associated with Epos projects at a given site. The modular and distributed nature of Epos enhances the flexibility of data backup, so that every project, survey and database can be backed up separately, enabling a much faster process. An option is given to back up data on a monthly basis, with incremental backups to be performed daily. This saves time by backing up only changed data each day, while enabling disaster recovery of all the backed up data, if necessary.
In case of data loss during work, the Epos system includes a mechanism for copying data from the most recent snapshot taken by the file server, and restoring only the required data element. This enables fast and convenient restore with very high data granularity. |
