As we develop
and deliver digital subsurface asset management
software, we describe the underlying technology
being "next generation." What
does that mean to our customers?
In one way,
our customers have defined it. We hear
customers say Paradigm software, such as SKUA and
CRAM3D, is 2, 3 and sometimes 5 years ahead of
anything available today. Evidence lies in
customer wins and in excitement around the speed
and accuracy of SKUA or in the fidelity of
illumination CRAM3D delivers. Next
generation for Paradigm is hearing our
enterprise customers "cry tears of joy" at early
reviews of EPOS4 capability.
Next
Generation is rooted in terms of our
technology, our approach, and strategy. It is
our unconflicted approach, our singular
focus on software innovation, breadth and depth,
and our strategic consulting leadership - unlike
all others. Next generation Paradigm technology is
commercializing leading science that is one
or more generations of innovation ahead of current
technology in use today. It is our strategy and
motivation to consistently delight customers by
delivering substantive and surprising value
in the form of integrated high-performance
solutions.
When asked
what next generation means, for us it's more than
just the next release. It is our approach,
technology innovation, and customer-centric
strategy.

Featuring Charmaine
Bixler Technical Sales
Advisor Structural and Stratigraphic
Interpretation

Tell
us what you do at Paradigm, Charmaine.
"I am a member of
the Technical Sales Group in Houston, Texas, with
primary responsibility of the Interpretation and
Reservoir Characterization suite of products. I
work directly with clients, providing technical
assistance throughout a technical evaluation. By
working closely with customers and seeing their
challenges, I am able to identify which Paradigm
products, workflows and or services would best
benefit them. I also design and deliver workflow
based product demonstrations, best practices
workflows, custom training, and product roll-out
sessions."
When did
you join Paradigm and what do you like best about
working here? "Wow, this is a loaded question! I
go way back in the archives, to CogniSeis, one of
the companies that Paradigm acquired in 1997.
CogniSeis was originally founded by Digicon. I
joined Digicon in 1982 as a member of the Computer
Systems Division (CSD) with responsibilities in
supporting Digicon's internal processing software,
Disco. Then CogniSeis Development (CSD) became an
independent company, selling and supporting
products and services. Paradigm later purchased
CogniSeis in 1997, acquiring the products
Disco/Focus for processing, VoxelGeo for seismic
visualization, GeoSec for geologic restoration,
SeisX for interpretation, along with many other
products. Prior to the Paradigm purchase I
remained in a technical role, supporting, training
and demonstrating processing and interpretation
products. Upon the acquisition by Paradigm, I
moved into various management roles, leading the
Customer Support and Training departments. But I
quickly learned that my love was back in a
technical role.
What I like
best about working at Paradigm is the diversity
and ever changing cultures through the growth and
acquisition of technology companies. In the
various roles I encountered during my tenure here,
I have been afforded opportunities to grow and
reach whatever goal I put my mind to. I have never
been limited here at Paradigm in terms of
achieving career enrichment."
What was
the first job that brought you into the oil
industry? "Well, that was Texaco which, at the
time, was nicknamed Texaco Tech. I came into the
industry with a Mathematical background. Back in
the 1980s, they were looking for people with
degrees in Math or Science to train as
geophysicist. They were facing a shortage in the
industry much as we see today. I was then put in
an intensive geophysical training program and
gradually went back to university for geophysical
studies. I was processing land and marine seismic
data from field acquisition to final migrated
sections. I worked directly with geologist to
review results and determine if we were reaching
objective. In addition I coordinated special
projects, working with outside consultants to
accomplish the team's objectives."
What
special interest outside of work do you
enjoy? "I like
to do just about anything that takes me outdoors.
I really have a love for jogging, which I have
been taking part in since I first moved to Texas.
I have successfully completed four Marathons, two
Ultra-Marathons and five Half Marathons. I also
love bike riding and have completed the MS150 from
Houston to Austin twice. But one of my all time
loves is water skiing which I have been doing
since I was a kid. A goal I have is to run a
marathon in each of the 50 states but I am
starting a bit late so we shall see. I keep
repeating the runs in Texas, but I really need to
venture out to the other 47 states. Currently I
have only run in 3 of the 50 states, so I better
get busy!
And
finally, Charmaine, what is your favorite phrase,
or word, that motivates
you? "You
can accomplish anything you put your mind
to." |
