Paradigm Demonstrates Visualization Applications at Intel Developer Forum Conference in Beijing

Collaborative technologies offer high-performance computing and visualization solutions for the global oil and gas industry

(AMSTERDAM, Netherlands: March 30, 2009) Paradigm™ (www.pdgm.com), a leading provider of enterprise software solutions to the global oil and natural gas exploration and production (E&P) industry, announced its participation in the technical exhibition at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) Conference to be held in Beijing, China on April 8, 2009. The annual IDF conference provides an opportunity for leading companies to demonstrate their most advanced technologies on the latest Intel product offerings.

The IDF technical exhibition will place heavy emphasis on 3D graphics and multithreaded capabilities on the desktop. Paradigm will feature its high-end subsurface visualization and interpretation applications (Paradigm SeisEarth™ and Paradigm VoxelGeo™) on a state-of-the-art Intel-configured workstation. Intel will spotlight its new Intel® Xeon® processor W5580 (formerly codenamed Nehalem) and Intelligence Performance technology which combine high performance computing and workstation features into a single innovative platform.

“The Intel Xeon® 5500 series processor is highly suited for the oil and gas industry’s most advanced personal workstation applications,” said Patrick Gelsinger, Intel senior vice-president and general manager, Digital Enterprise Group. “Paradigm’s next-generation visualization software takes full advantage of the processing power and the memory-bandwidth available in the Intel Xeon 5500 processor based platforms.”

Paradigm incorporates subsurface interpretation into powerful integrated workflows that utilize common data models and rich subsurface visualization canvases. Intel intelligent performance, with twice the number of software threads, boosts performance and delivers the scalability necessary for premium Virtual Workbench experience.

Intel will also exhibit performance benchmarks for Paradigm GeoDepth® (CRAM), a new and innovative approach for generating seismic images of the subsurface, to compare the improved capability of Intel Xeon 5500 series processors with that of previous Intel processors.

“We are extremely pleased with the performance of our software on Intel’s next-generation platform,” said Duane Dopkin, Paradigm senior vice-president of technology. “These continuous innovations by Intel enable our customers to carry out advanced subsurface imaging, interpretation, and visualization activities with the confidence needed to meet tight exploration and development deadlines.”
