Paradigm® GOCAD® has led the industry for over 20 years in providing the most advanced capabilities for seismic, geological and reservoir modeling. Fully integrated and multi-disciplinary, GOCAD produces accurate results, resulting in more reliable reservoir predictions.

Geoscientists have turned to the GOCAD integrated product suite to incorporate difficult model structures, multi-z surfaces and complex faults such as saltdome, overthrust, and reverse faults. With a simple to use workflow-based interface, users can obtain results quickly, and when the modeling gets tough, GOCAD can handle complexities that other solutions cannot.

GOCAD and SKUA

GOCAD workflows now run in Paradigm SKUA® without modification, as standalone applications or on Paradigm Epos®. Projects from GOCAD can be loaded in SKUA.

SKUA uses the original GOCAD infrastructure, but offers a new approach to the model-building process, as well as a mathematically rigorous approach to the representation of the subsurface. Many GOCAD plug-ins have additional options when used in in the SKUA suite, with far superior results.

Many Paradigm customers are now deploying or evaluating SKUA as a replacement for their traditional GOCAD licenses. Customers who are currently licensing GOCAD and associated plug-ins can continue to use these products, supported by ongoing maintenance. We do, however, encourage our GOCAD users to look at the many advantages offered by SKUA, and to discuss available upgrade options with their sales representatives.

GOCAD Modules

GOCAD is a fully integrated software suite with modules that span the entire E&P subsurface activity from seismic to reservoir simulation.

  • Reservoir Data Analysis: The module offers tools to validate, organize, analyze, and model reservoir data. It is designed as a workflow that systematically guides users through the steps required to establish reliable input statistics for constructing robust reservoir property models.
  • Flow Simulators: SKUA/GOCAD applications produce reservoir models that are ready for processing by commercial flow simulators. The resulting flow simulations can be imported and analyzed in the SKUA/GOCAD platform for Schlumberger and CMG reservoir simulators.
  • Velocity Modeling: Powerful and efficient, GOCAD velocity modeling enables accurate time-to-depth conversion, especially in salt and structurally complex environments, and provides the tools to interpolate velocities along a structural surface within a 3D cube.
  • Internal Plug-Ins: Companies can easily extend plug-in modules that can be added at the run-tie in the GOCAD suite, integrating in-house algorithms as plug-ins inside the Base Module, the foundation product of the GOCAD suite. Paradigm clients have implemented plug-ins to integrate the earth model with in-house or vendor processing modules such as ray tracing or flow simulators.
