Fault interpretation can be carried out using traditional fault interpretation workflows or through more advanced techniques, such as Paradigm Automatic Fault Extraction. The Paradigm Automatic Fault Extraction (AFE) technology, under license from the BP Center for Visualization at the University of Colorado, has been incorporated into the Paradigm workflow. Paradigm AFE both automates and enhances the process of identifying, extracting and modeling geologic discontinuities, such as faults, from subsurface seismic volumes. These surfaces can then be used to help constrain and improve the performance of auto-tracking and segmentation algorithms, minimizing problems with miscorrelation across faults in the data. When combined with the Paradigm
VoxelGeo® volume-based interpretation solution, Paradigm AFE sets a new standard in the quality, accuracy and efficiency of performing complex subsurface interpretation.
In the first stage, Paradigm AFE will be offered as an add-on module to Paradigm
VoxelGeo; this add-on will soon be available with Paradigm’s other interpretation products – Paradigm
SeisEarth™ and Paradigm Reservoir Navigator. A multi-CPU version is available for shared memory platforms.
