General Information
1. What is Paradigm™ StratEarth™ and who is it for?
Paradigm StratEarth is a tightly integrated geological correlation and cross-section application that enables geoscientists and engineers, within a single environment, to evaluate and assess reservoirs through well log analysis, build-and-edit lithology, and well correlation for better reservoir assessment, well positioning and well schematics management.

Application and Usage
2. What different data types can I display in StratEarth?
Interpretation data, such as picks and grids, triangulated surfaces, well logs, well markers, stratigraphy, facies, seismic, synthetics and schematics, engineering data, Paradigm™ SKUA® geologic and flow-simulation grids with properties if available, Paradigm™ GOCAD® structural model and reservoir grid with properties if available, and SKUA/GOCAD T-Solid composed of tetrahaedra with properties if available. Transparency option enables displaying multiple attributes at the same time.
3. How can I define the points to create my cross-section?
You can digitize on or between wells in the Paradigm™ SeisEarth® base map, or alternatively from wells loaded into StratEarth.
4. How is the seismic accessed in StratEarth?
It is reading data, without duplicating it, from Paradigm™ Epos™ and is a dynamic link rather than a static snapshot which means as you change your cross-sections display, your seismic view is dynamically updated. The seismic data, which could be any seismic attribute or 2D line is read from shared memory therefore available in SeisEarth, Paradigm™ VoxelGeo® and Paradigm™ Stratimagic®.
5. Can I save multiple versions of my StratEarth project?
Yes there is a project save option. The project save file is a .cprj and a .prj file located in the Epos project direction in the application segments directory. These files can also be opened and viewed not only in StratEarth but also in SKUA and GOCAD.
6. I would like to print my cross-section. What options are available?
Standard print formats such as Letter, A4, A3 etc. are available. You can also customize the print format. The print is done in postscript. StratEarth has a print preview capability that allows the user to view and adjust the view before sending it to printer. A CGM export option is also available.
7. What options are available for templates to display log data?
StratEarth comes with 5 default templates. Users can create templates from scratch, and copy and rename the default provide template. Users also have the option to import and export templates between users and can import a Paradigm Geolog® layout to use as a template.
8. Can I define the geological relationships?
Yes, You define geological relationships in the stratigraphic column, such as conformable, eroded, baselap, unconformity etc. The geological correlation is done using the stratigraphic column information and the fault positions.

Training and Support
13. Is training available for StratEarth?
Yes, Paradigm has created a new 2 day training course to teach users how to use StratEarth. Please visit www.pdgm.com/training for a full listing of available classes by location. Also, customers using any of the Rock & Fluid Canvas 2009 | Epos 4.0 products are strongly recommended to enroll in the Epos 4.0 System and Data Management course.
14. Where are Paradigm Training Centers located?
Paradigm offers public at our training centers in the following locations:
Americas - Houston, TX, USA; Calgary, Canada; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Caracas, Venezuela
Europe/CIS - Woking, England; Aberdeen, Scotland; Pau, France; Moscow, Russia
Middle East/North Africa/India - Lagos, Nigeria; Mumbai, India; Dubai, UAE
Asia Pacific - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Perth, Australia
China - Beijing, China
15. Can I schedule a private StratEarth training class just for users in my company?
Yes, Paradigm can teach our StratEarth class to your users on a private basis at a Paradigm Training Center or at your facility.
16. Can private classes be taught using my dataset?
Yes, but in order to avoid customization charges, we recommended that we deliver a private class using our dataset. After the training class is completed, our trainer can spend an extra day working with users on their datasets. We have found this to be the most cost effective way of transferring knowledge with specific datasets.
