Engineering modeling: integrating geological modeling and flow simulation |
Making informed decisions begins with everyone having access to all information and to being able to share that data. The Paradigm™ SKUA® Engineering Modeling solution provides a collaborative modeling environment allowing the persistence of data and knowledge between reservoir modeling and reservoir engineering - without the loss or degradation of either. Able to provide unbiased flow simulation grids in any structural or stratigraphic setting, this advanced solution dramatically improves project turn-around time while yielding geologically sound production forecasts and production-coherent geological models.
Sharing data, speeding results
The SKUA Engineering Modeling solution provides an environment where geoscientists and engineers can co-visualize their respective data, interpretations, models, processes and results. It uses the UVT Transform® approach to enable the construction of 3D structured, corner-point reservoir grids that are optimal for numerical flow simulation purposes. Users can compare the dynamic behavior or fine geological models and coarse flow simulation models, and set up and launch multiple flow simulation scenarios as well as analyze and manipulate flow simulation results. All modules are workflow driven to enable rapid iterations for production uncertainty analysis and history matching, while preserving the integrity of the geological model.
Delivering greater accuracy
Unlike pillar grids which often do not accurately reflect the reservoir geometry and property distribution and lead to numerical errors in flow simulation, only the SKUA Engineering Modeling bundle offers an efficient and systematic integrated approach to sound reservoir forecasting, using reservoir grids that keep the integrity of the geology via a geologically and flow based rigorous up-scaling of a SKUA Geologic Grid and limit numerical errors in flow simulators. In addition, it preserves all information related to the models, how and why they were created, generating a rigorous audit-trail.
