Paradigm VoxelGeo, Third Edition is the industry-leading volume visualization and seismic interpretation application for 3D seismic data.
Volume visualization enables interpreters to see and then interpret 3D features within a volume of seismic data. VoxelGeo enables viewing within the volume using a unique set of techniques that selectively exclude data by trimming or volume sculpting and then by making some amplitude values transparent. For example, when viewing bright spots, intermediate amplitude values may be made transparent so that only the extreme positive and negative values are viewable.”
In areas of complex structure, VoxelGeo allows faults and horizons to be viewed along strike within the volume; viewable amplitudes may be restricted to the most positive or most negative. This technique enables structural interpretations to be made in areas where seismic imaging fails to deliver high signal to noise. For hydrocarbon-productive areas, fluid contacts may be enhanced by viewing the volume horizontally with some transparency for all amplitudes.
To aid interpretation, VoxelGeo enables attributes that enhance volume properties to be co-rendered with each other or with the reflection amplitudes. For example, coherency-plus-amplitude or amplitude-plus-interval velocity are common attribute combinations. Additionally, well data and interpreted data may be viewed with seismic data in 3D.
Stratigraphic features such as channel, delta and fan systems are inherently 3D in nature. Parts of these systems may be relatively flat when deposited. Using VoxelGeo, these can be recovered by re-datuming the volume to an interpreted horizon, an artificial index horizon or a depthand-
space shifted horizon. The associated levees, crevasse splays, fans and overbank deposits will usually occupy different depths to the main body of the channel. These systems can often be revealed in 3D and recognized by using VoxelGeo volume visualization with variable opacity.
VoxelGeo also provides:
- Productivity tools to perform structural interpretation
- Geobody detection tools to extract features
- Ability to generate high quality movies using key-index frames with subsequent frame interpolation for interpretation and presentation purposes
